Tips on How to make dots in a circle. Practice class for beginners on dotting perfectly in a circle.

Hello everyone!

Todays video is a practice class for beginners. I get this question many times on how to dot perfectly in a circle. Initially when you start dotting and you dot on a circle your circle doesn’t come out properly. But slowly with practice and some tips you can master it in no time.

So first make some random circles on a scrap piece of card stock for practice. I will show how I am dotting on the line first. You can see as you go your dots might go this side or that side. This why I recommend to dot in the side of the lines.

Now I will dot on inside the line. I just have to make sure that I should put the dot touching the line and just keep dotting. This way your dots will come in perfect circle. Now I will show you how I am dotting outside the line. This way also just make sure to touch the line from outside and you will get the perfect circle.

You can see before putting the dot on the surface, I pause for a second and then I put the dot. This helps me to keep my dots on the right spot.

Now I will take a 4/4 inch MDF board and make a dot mandala on it.

I have already painted it with gesso and now I am painting it with black acrylic paint paint.

For finding its centre I am marking diagonal lines and then making random circles.

Starting here with a big dot in the centre. You can see I am loading the paint many times to make a big plump dot. Now I am making tiny dots. Usually I start with four dots on the opposite ends when I have to make a big mandala with shapes and sections. But here I am just dotting along around the big dot as I don’t need to make sections in this mandala.

I will just keep increasing the size of the tool and dot in the centre of two dots in the next row.

You might have noticed that I skip one space and then dot on the next space and then fill the skipped space with the dot. By doing this I make sure to get the uniform space for every dot.

Now I am moving ahead and dotting next to the circle. You can dot inside the line or outside the line. Whatever feels comfortable to you.

When you start dot painting, the most important thing is to keep practising. Some people are natural and their first project comes out beautiful. And some take little to perfect this art. So don’t compare yourself with anyone else. Keep competing with yourself. Keep checking how much you have grown from yesterday and you will be amazed by your progress.

I feel dot painting is the best meditative art to keep you focused and calm.

In this time of pandemic, when nothing seems normal, this art is so therapeutic.

It brings about some peace and joy in our life.  I wish you all are safe and staying home. I pray and hope that all this will be over soon and our world will be better again.

So Keep watching this practice class till the end. You can dot along too. I would like to thank all of my viewers for supporting me and liking my videos. I am almost reaching 5000 subscribers. And this all because of you guys. Thank you so much for your support
